Kerala has the distinction of having the largest number of YMCAs in the country with more than 400 Associations. The YMCAs in Kerala function under the South West India (Kerala) Region which was formed in 1954 with its headquarters at Aluva. Of the 9 regions of the National Council of YMCAs, the Kerala region is the biggest in terms of number of Associations and membership.
